Software Intern

The Software Testing Analyst will be responsible for Functional testing of internal/external applications to ensure product quality, usability and integrity. The primary focus of this position will be to plan, create, and review test cases, test data and results. The testing analyst will also be in control of data validation and help automation team for the initiatives defined by Product Roadmap, while the initial assignment will involve manual testing. This role should work with Business, Operations, IT and others to ensure the full scope of the project is understood, tested for system functionality and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops test plans, cases, scenarios and scripts to thoroughly understand the impact and test new solutions development and maintenance projects.
• Validate data from data sources through each step of the extract and transformation process.
• Understand the data model and ETL flow. Understand the overall design of the product, should know the integrations with other functional areas of the product
• Validates data integrity by creating and executing relatively complex queries. Perform functional and regression testing to include data validation /verification.
• Have strong SQL skills with proficiency in writing queries and scripts to extract and compare data from various databases.
• Work with Automation developers to develop, maintain and execute automated system and regression test suites.
• Identify test requirements from user stories/acceptance criteria, map test case requirements and design adequate test coverage plan. Track testing activities and defects in CA Agile Central.
• Conduct Smoke Testing, Functional Testing, and Regression Testing of applications on a scheduled basis to ensure product integrity.
• Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes. Analyzes and troubleshoot erroneous results, determine the root causes and help is resolving the issues.
• Works closely with Software Development team (Business Analysts, Developers, Tech Leads and Scrum Master) to ensure timely and effective testing effort.
• Participate in Daily Stand up calls, works closely with the Agile Manager to know the deliverables and commitments of each release/sprint, and coordinates with all the QA/BA/Dev team members to clear the impediments for progression.
• Experience in Agile Methodology. Coordinates with onshore/offshore teams if necessary.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, technology (graduate degree preferred.)
• 3+ years of software testing experience.
• Understanding of SDLC processes and provides a traceability of test cases to requirements.
• Experience with both Oracle and NoSQL database testing.
• Proficient in database testing to ensure data integrity.
• SQL knowledge is required.
• Experience testing web services.
• Experience working in health insurance industry is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills which will aid defect creation and resolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
