Software Engineer (Robotics)

Ava Robotics is a startup based in Cambridge, MA. Ava Mobile Robotics Platform is a breakthrough solution suitable for wide range of applications and 3rd party development. It is capable of autonomous navigation in the complex real world alongside people leveraging computer vision, object recognition, artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud computing.

One of the early application is Ava telepresence robots – enables “practical teleporting” to freely move around a faraway location while having a physical presence and high definition telepresence session.

As part of Product Development, you will be designing and implementing technologies and features into next generation AVA products including design, implement, and document software to run on embedded platforms.

Job functions will include:

  • Work on the next generation of Ava mobile robot platform and telepresence applications
  • Develop robot software: navigation/mapping, path planning, state machines and robot behaviors
  • Design, implement, and document software to run on Linux and embedded platforms
  • Work in an Agile environment with teams spread between India & USA

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in writing C/C++ applications for Linux or embedded systems
  • Solid understanding of design patterns, data structures and advanced programming techniques
  • Experience with real-time and multi-threaded systems
  • Experience with finite state machine design and implementation
  • Experience with path planning, AI algorithms, navigation algorithms, or robot behavior systems including integrating with devices with an ability to see, understand and learn from the environment such as Sensors, LIDARs and Cameras
  • Great interpersonal skills, passion, energy and desire to build robots
  • Strong analytical skills and a desire to learn as well as teach others
  • M.S in Computer Science; we will consider 2017 CS/CE Master Graduates eligible for extended OPT
