Software Engineer (PHP, MySQL, Python)

Wayfair is a leader in the e-commerce space for all things for the home (couches, end tables, lamps, and literally 7+ million other items). HOWEVER, we still have that start-up feel within engineering. Our Storefront Team is constantly increasing the utility of our site, writing code that serves pages to all of our customers.

We’re looking for sharp, logical thinkers who have experience with PHP, MySQL and Python. We have a massive amount of data under all of this so SQL skills are ideal.

The storefront team is responsible for handling web security for our highly-visible, highly-trafficked ecommerce site, scaling the website to serve 1 million unique visitors each day. Our engineers face exciting challenges as we increase our global reach and as our mounting business needs dictate large projects for the engineering team as a whole.

We don’t care what language you grew up with…we have a wide array of technologies here. OO skills are great; functional programming and scripting language experience are prized as well.

An ideal candidate has:
Have 3-5+ years of relevant professional experience

Exceptional problem solving skills, experience developing creative solutions to complex problems

Large systems design and development experience using PHP and/or Python

Database design, development and performance optimization experience

Sense of humor and excellent communication skills

Desire to mentor, teach and lead teams

BA/BS degree from a 4-year college or university
