Software Engineer IV

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining and improving software. They manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables. This position requires a creative, flexible and reliable individual that has solid PHP and database experience, can recognize system limitations, can architect a data driven application that is scalable and supportable, can architect an analytics system that users can configure to produce meaningful data for their own business needs. This role may also act in a lead capacity to direct day to day work and mentor other engineers. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced team environment and be a constructive, positive influence on the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, design, or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  • Design and develop enhancements to web based applications to add a user-configurable analytical subsystem.
  • Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit or verify information or data obtained from all relevant sources.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience with 3 years of using PHP as well as Mongo or MySQL
  • Experience using C++ or C# or JavaScript
  • Experience using HTML and CSS
  • Full understanding of TCPIP, web browsers and web servers
  • Experience with data driven network applications to optimize performance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
  • Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience creating extensions to Visual Studio such as VSIX
  • Experience working with the .net framework
  • Experience with Agile methods such as TDD, Scrum, and Stories
  • Experience developing robust designs and APIs
