Software Engineer III – Sr. ETL Developer/SSIS Lead

We service customers from strategically located distribution facilities and manufacturing facilities, that produce value-added products such as roof and floor trusses, wall panels, stairs, vinyl windows, custom millwork and pre-hung doors. Builders FirstSource also distributes dimensional lumber and lumber sheet goods, millwork, windows, interior and exterior doors, and other building products.

The Sr. ETL Developer/SSIS Lead will be working on a new BI implementation project and supporting the current production environment. He/She will be hands on but also provide technical leadership to the team and will be actively involved in the team’s direction and efforts.

From preliminary business requirements and solution architectures, conducts feasibility analysis and uses comprehensive technical knowledge, creativity and judgment in exploring possible high-level solution designs.

• Produces software designs to meet complex requirements within time and cost constraints.
• Ensures technical documentation reflects changes to application functionality or implementation choices. Plans, conducts, and supervises assignments.
• Reviews progress and results, and communicates with management. Leverages team skills for successful project completion.
• Leads system design, applying established and emerging ETL best practices and standards.
• Balances between robustness and speed/cost considerations, optimizing based on what’s appropriate for the solution domain.
• Plans overall documentation needs and provides technical documentation relating to system design, application deployment planning, and production support requirements.
• Drives quality best practices including design reviews, unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration to ensure a defect-free delivery.
• Maintains consistency and encourages improvement.

Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and ten (10) years software design and development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Eight (8) years of experience designing and developing ETL solutions

Five (5) years of experience with SSIS

Five (5) years of experience working in a complex ETL/Data Warehousing environment

Three (3) years of experience with Informatica

Expert knowledge in writing SQL queries, stored procedures and functions

Expert knowledge in Data warehousing concepts, tools and methodologies

Comprehensive understanding of the data processing environment, its impact on business functions

Must provide technical leadership, coach and mentor other team members

Must be able to translate functional requirements into long term sustainable technical solutions

Must be able to work on both development and production support efforts

Strong communication skills. Should be able to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, methodical and logical manner to different audiences

Strong technical, logical, analytical and problem solving skills

Should be a team player and willing to share and collaborate with other team members
