Software Engineer – Entry Level

The development organization within Clearwater Analytics operates several independent project teams. Each team is capable of extending our software in ways that solve real problems for our customers. We write software that is used by some of the world’s largest technology firms, fixed income asset managers, and custodian banks. Our project teams are fast-moving, capable of producing tremendous feature enhancements, and responding to emerging opportunities.

Responsibilities:
As a Software Development Engineer at Clearwater Analytics, you will be a member of one of these project teams. You will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, helping your team design, implement and deploy quality software. You will be working in an agile environment producing designs and code that our customers will use every day. Your role is crucial for maintaining a fast pace of development and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with an object-oriented language (e.g. Java, C++, or C#)
  • Right to work in the U.S. without employment based sponsorship now or in the future

Your responsibilities may include:
Collaborate with design, layout, and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools, design rule checkers and electronic data processing systems software

Determining computer user needs

Advising hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements

Responding to customer/client requests or events as they occur

Qualifications

You must meet the qualifications to be considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work, class course work, research, relevant previous job and/or internship experiences. Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Experience with:
C++, Java, Perl, and/or Python

Analytical skills for problem abstraction

Broad theoretical knowledge in computer science, including algorithms and data structures

Standard software engineering practices for version control, configuration management, testing, root cause analysis, and quality assurance

Source Code Management tools such as Git, Fossil, subversion and Design Sync

Preferred Qualifications:Experience with:
Programming experience on Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Apple platforms

Web Application Frameworks, such as Ruby on Rails

Programming experience on mobile platforms such as Android, Meego, and iOS

Programming experience on desktop platforms such as Microsoft.NET framework

Firm grasp of programming tools such as compilers, linkers, and debuggers

NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL, MVVM, HTML5 and associated cloud/web based technologies

Enterprise system/software engineer performs overall management and maintenance of certain enumerated lists housed in the enterprise Registry Tool. These lists enumerate the valid values for particular metadata field in multiple enterprise data formats. The number and extent of these lists requires dedicated oversight to ensure that values are being properly and completely formed, entered, finalized, and vetted for release. This effort also includes the development and maintenance of various technical documents that may include:

  • Logical data models and descriptions.
  • Physical schema outputs like XML Schema Documents (XSDs) and Data Element Dictionaries.
  • Users and Implementation Guides, how-to guides, and instruction manuals.
  • Schema documentation and numerous enumerated lists and related documentation.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Develop implement, and manage numerous enumerated lists on behalf of various customers.
  • Design the structure of information in enumerated lists to optimize readability and reuse.
  • First point of contact for questions and/or change requests regarding enumerated list values.
  • Maintain User Guide(s) which define the data governance process for all enumerated lists.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for the data models / data formats.
  • Conduct research of a wide range of SIGINT topics and logical data modeling topics.
  • Develop and revise definitions of elements, attributes, classes, business rules, relationships, domains, and other data modeling components.
  • Design implementation guidance to be used both internally and externally for model implementation
  • Involvement in the configuration management of deliveries and document release and versioning.

Individual Capabilities Required:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with a minimum of 0-1 years of professional experience as a System Engineer, Information Architecture, Application Programming, or similar experience on systems that encompass information / data design / engineering.

Desired skills: Experience with UML, XML, and related tools and / or data modeling is a plus. Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Access. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of customers. Must be willing to learn new technologies. Self-driven and detail oriented.
