ASRC Federal System Solutions was recently awarded a seven (7) year program supporting the FAA in Oklahoma City. This position will support the FAA’s Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) systems used by Air Traffic Control to provide data communications services between pilots and air traffic controllers. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a variety of technology in a systems engineering environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support software programming, development, review, audit, testing and configuration management
  • Provide software development in JAVA, C, C++ as well as high level languages including Python, Ruby and Perl
  • Utilize object-oriented analysis and design concepts/practices as well as engineering principles, practices and procedures related to computer systems
  • Provide full software design lifecycle from requirements gathering through production phase
  • Develop software interfaces with external devices
  • Utilize test equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes or other equipment
  • Debug complex systems and conduct reviews, audits and testing
  • Provide network programming (sockets) and inter-process communications
  • Interact with all levels of stakeholders/customers in gathering requirements and reporting status

Requirements/Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Engineering and two (2) to ten (10) years of related software development or engineering experience
  • Experience with JAVA, C/C++ as well as UNIX-like Operating Systems (Linux, Solaris, IRIX) and operating System administration (Red Hat Enterprise/CentOS Linux)
  • Python, Perl, Ruby and/or shell scripting (working knowledge of high-level languages)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required)
  • Knowledge of systems software, computer systems architecture and integration, software programming, development, review, audit, testing, configuration management, requirements and changes
  • Working knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design to include full lifecycle experience from requirements gathering through production phase
  • Working knowledge of test equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes is desired
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of distributed multi-process application concepts, Agile software development concepts/practices, Test-Driven Development and/or Behavior-Driven Development
  • User interface design and implementation experience
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of network programming (sockets) and interprocess communication
  • Knowledge and understanding on importance of testing during all phases of the software development process
