VIP is seeking a Software Engineer to join our agile, fast paced work environment. The successful candidate must be creative, driven to succeed, able to thrive within a small agile team environment, and comfortable working in conjunction with other teams to deploy well engineered software on a regular cadence. We are looking for highly motivated individuals that want to make a meaningful difference to society by delivering superior digital solutions to the marketplace.

• Focus on back-end architectural enablement work for our mobile and web applications.
• Work with project leads, Scrum team, and others to design and develop software applications, data structures, and processes that meet specified requirements.
• Follow and improve established processes for software development life cycle with an agile approach to software delivery.
• Provide technical leadership on development projects for Digital Services.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to build high performance multi-platform applications and robust APIs in an agile environment
• Experience working in teams with a DevOps culture and not afraid to jump into the tech stack where needed
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with a mixture of the following technologies is required –
  • AWS (EC2, Lambda, CloudFormation, S3, SQS, etc) or similar cloud platforms
  • REST APIs in Python or C#
  • Chalice for serverless microservice development
  • AngularJS, TypeScript, HTML5, Javascript, CSS3
  • Swift for iOS or Java for Android
  • PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or another RDBMS
  • Jenkins DSL for CI, Fastlane for mobile CD
  • GIS development – MapBox, Leaflet, RasterIO, GDAL
  • Automated testing including unit, integration, API, contract, and end-to-end testing
• Ability to review architecture, design, and code to ensure adherence to vision, standards, and quality
• Bring critical thinking and new ideas to the team in order to contribute to the continued evolution and improvement of our systems
