Job summary
The Red Hat Big Data team is looking for a talented developer to join us in Westford, MA as a Software Engineer. In this role, you will work alongside some of the brightest developers in the industry while helping to build open source software for next-generation data processing. Candidates from remote locations (U.S. or Canada) may also be considered.

Primary job responsibilities

• Fix bugs, develop new features, and review contributions to open source communities
• Develop open source data-driven application blueprints to educate other developers
• Develop open source data-driven applications to solve real-world data problems
• Interact with a globally distributed, technical team
• Publicize work through blogs and social media

Required skills

• 3+ years of development experience
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or another technology-related field
• Demonstrated experience participating in open source communities
• Demonstrated experience with several of the following: Distributed systems, statistics, parallel algorithms, machine learning, modeling and analysis of systems, relational databases, and key-value databases
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Demonstrated development expertise in Scala, Python, or Java is a plus
