Role Summary:
GE Software is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to work on a number of exciting projects that will have a very positive impact on GE’s business. The role involves software serviceability in the MRI Imaging modality involving modern technologies, working on POCs and product integration of new serviceability offerings into the MR product segments.

Essential Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for programming a feature and or a small feature set. You will contribute to the team and take direction from the Senior Team Members or management but expected to work independently. As a software engineer supporting serviceability you will also need to explore modern technologies for Field Service Engineer efficiency and user experience.

In this role you will:
1. Be a member of the Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high quality design and development practices
2. Develop software features that can be launched on multiple topological combinations (local host, containers, VMs, cloud, fog, etc.) for MR scanners for better efficiency and productivity
3. Explore and adopt web technologies for MR product serviceability and productivity
4. Collaborate with cross functional teams (service engineering, UI team, infrastructure team, and other software subsystems) to arrive at design proposals and solutions.
5. Provide expertise on core Linux Operating System areas
6. Apply principles of SDLC, secure design and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI Software, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques

Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering
and Math)
2. A minimum of 2 years of professional experience
3. Working experience on the Linux environment (preferably RedHat Enterprise Linux)
4. Working knowledge of Scripting languages (i.e. Python, Perl, and Bash)
5. Working knowledge of Java and C++
6. Working knowledge of web technologies, such as Angular JS/Node JS and HTML.

1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:

  • Working experience on RedHat Enterprise Linux environment. (Exposure to or knowledge of RHEL7 will be an added advantage)
  • Working experience with Python, Perl, and Unix scripting
  • Working experience of Java and Spring & Spring-boot
  • Working experience with web technologies
  • Working experience with containers (Docker and LXC)
  • Working experience with basic network diagnostics
  • Has experience with software test automation
  • Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot and fix software issues

Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrates ability to work in an agile environment. Exposure or experience in Scaled Agile Framework will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrates ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
  • Demonstrates ability to make technical choices based on experience
  • Demonstrates general awareness of the industry

  • Demonstrates ability to take ownership and independently deliver small tasks with minimal supervision
