Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity in Yahoo! Finance market data Engineering team for an experienced C++/*NIX engineer who is capable of working in a fast paced environment. The candidate will design, develop & maintain Yahoo! Finance data systems & APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, revamp Yahoo! Finance low latency & high throughput data processing and distribution systems. This involves working on entire backend technology stack — feed processing, data distribution & APIs.

• Implement feed processors for new data sets.

• Storage and distribution infrastructure.

• Code in C++/Perl/Java in UNIX environment.

• Proactively optimize for scalability, efficiency and maintainability in a practical way.

• Troubleshoot production issues.

• Identify and communicate best practices. Participate in design and code reviews.

• Follow & lead excellent coding, testing and documenting practices & adhere to existing standards.

• Experience troubleshooting live production issues during market hours

Requirements

• Internship experience in C++ or Java programming in Unix/Linux environment

• Experience with multi-threaded programming, networking (socket programming, tcp/ip, multicast communications) and UNIX system programming.

• Experience building & benchmarking high performance 24/7 reliable systems.

• BS/MS/PhD Degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent expertise).

• Overall Strong Computer Science Background with excellent knowledge of Algorithms and Data structures.

• High energy/self starter with the ability to work independently within the firm’s demanding and highly focused environment.

Preferred

• C++/Java/Perl & OO design expertise

• Experience in the financial industry involving real-time / delayed / EOD feed processing (FIX Protocol, XBRL, and Bloomberg, Reuters, Interactive Data/Data Feeds.. ), messaging infrastructure (Kafka) & MySQL would be great plus.

• Experience with HTML5, Java Script & CSS or willingness to learn and work on Web frontend technologies as required.
