Software Engineer

In Analog, people—not devices—are at the center of everything we do. Our tech moves beyond screens and pixels, creating a new reality aimed at bringing us closer together—whether that’s scientists "meeting" on the surface of a virtual Mars or some yet undreamt-of possibility. To get there, we’re incorporating diverse groundbreaking technologies, from the revolutionary Holographic Processing Unit to computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and more. We’re a growing team of talented engineers and artists putting technology on a human path across all Windows devices, including Microsoft HoloLens, the Internet of Things, phones, tablets, desktops, Xbox, and Surface Hub. We believe there has to be a better way. If you do too, we need you!

We are launching a new team of engineering, design, marketing, and evangelism talent in San Francisco to work on HoloLens and Windows Mixed Reality (MR). This entrepreneurial team will engage directly with the Bay Area community including established developers, startups, VCs, academic institutions, and local meetup groups to advance the state of the art of MR. We’ve built a location in the heart of downtown San Francisco where activities will take place, and use the latest devices (including HoloLens and immersive headsets). This team will engage directly with customers on a daily basis, but will also have the distinction of being part of the core product engineering team.

We deliver technical sessions at the top developer conferences in the region and nation. This role is responsible for:
  • Driving Microsoft technical engagement in developer communities in the Bay Area primarily at the Mixed Reality Academy location in downtown San Francisco
  • Defining and creating technical assets such as reference apps, starter kits and patterns and practices guidance for use at in-person events and online
  • Contributing to open source projects and working with product engineering to make Windows a great place to build MR experiences
  • Building compelling proof of concepts with developers at startups, universities and larger companies
  • Working with commercial and enterprise customers to envision how they can adopt
  • Delivering impactful technical content at events and through online channels
  • Developing relationships with community leaders and influencers
