JOB SUMMARY

Designs, develops, tests, and documents software, Internet, Intranet, data repository, automation applications and solutions, interface, and report development with need for occasional intervention or assistance from supervisor. Provides support on custom developments as requested. Proactively supports the efforts which ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

EDUCATION

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Business from an accredited senior college, or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE*

  • 3 years of experience in programming, internet, intranet, SQL database, or interface development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in Linux, UBUNTU, Apache Tomcat and Java Development
  • Experience with medical device requirements and deadlines as related to clinical trials

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally known information technology platforms, standards, testing procedures, and software development languages
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects without frequent need for assistance from supervisor
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with a variety of personnel within the organization

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Provides software engineering and research services to design applications and interfaces, including internet/intranet applications that provide automation solutions for data repositories, custom databases, and custom reports.
  • Provides application support services in resolving recurring technical problems and develops a project evaluation and recommendation document outlining steps taken and solutions implemented.
  • Provides technical support and maintenance of various computer applications, resolves defects or deficiencies with completed development, updates documentation as required, and provides documentation and training to support team members on completed development as necessary.
  • Provides requirements, tests, and testing support for software development projects in highly regulated industries.
  • Maintains and enhances current technical skills and learns new applications and skills by providing input into technology strategies and development tool selection.
  • Ensures compliance with Information Systems & Technology, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Joint Commission guidelines, policies, and procedures.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.


Compliance:
Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
