Quality Assurance Automation Co-op -Spring 2021

Description

The person serving in this co-op position will be working in a DevOps team to assist in analyzing current state of Quality assurance (QA) specifically with regards to automation. Periodic reviews of QA metrics will be a driving factor for strategic planning and continuous improvement. The goal is to re-evaluate our QA automation that is already in place in order to identify areas of improvement. There is also a need to create the necessary automation for some of our applications that are currently tested manually. This person will collaborate with all functions of the team but working more closely with QA engineers and Software Engineers. Additional duties will include looking at upstream systems to determine if there are automation opportunities for test data creation or other repetitive tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

Become acclimated with Cox custom application suite in order to understand high level function of each application.

Contribute in the test planning and test execution phase of the lifecycle for multiple telephony applications

Analyze and identify opportunities for testing automation or automation refinement

Participate in the analysis of application lower environment to ensure proper setup

Review QA outputs and metrics to identify problem areas and possible solutions

Actively build knowledge of current and emerging QA technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications

Full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in one of the following fields or related studies – Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

General knowledge of the concept of quality assurance, functional and regression testing

General knowledge of some object-oriented programming language(s)

Familiarity with the concepts of Agile and waterfall development

General knowledge of front end and back end test automation tools (Selenium, Cucumber, etc. )

Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills

Written and verbal communication skills

The desire to learn and work in a collaborative team environment

Self-motivated with strong sense of project ownership
