Summary

A Software Developer I is expected to apply principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to design and develop high quality software for the natural gas and petroleum measurement industry.

Software Developer I is an entry-level position. Various aspects of measurement and the Flow-Cal suite of products will be introduced by direct supervision. Beyond that, the Software Developer I is expected to operate effectively with a minimum amount of supervision.

Responsibilities

The Software Developer I will perform some or all of these duties on a daily basis:

Formulate work breakdowns outlining the steps required to accomplish each assigned task.
Prepare and maintain documents, flow charts and diagrams as needed to describe the program’s intended functionality, the data flow, the logic used and any significant considerations made.
Estimate the effort required to complete tasks based on the design.
Produce code, scripts and configurations necessary to fulfill the design requirements.
Use prototyping and demonstrations throughout the development cycle to ensure that functional requirements and ergonomic factors are being satisfied.
Utilize available tools and practices to ensure that coding techniques meet Flow-Cal and industry standards.
Generate test cases that verify that all requirements have been fulfilled.
Recreate steps taken by user to identify the root cause of defects.
Adhere to all established programming, documentation and project procedures and all corporate policies.

Communicate and convey technical ideas and concepts with supervisor as well as peers.
Research and implement tools and processes that improve Software Development.

The Software Developer I will also:

Update and maintain their personal skill set by investigating relevant software tools, components and techniques, participating in professional organizations and reading professional publications.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or computer engineering
Moderate knowledge of C++/C#
Familiarity with OOP Principles, Agile Principles, and Unit Testing
