Software Developer

This person will be part of a team of software developers responsible for all development aspects of developing the core legacy IBM Cloud Infrastructure platform services. With direction from more senior team members, this person will be exposed to the design, implementation, integration, and unit test portions of maintaining existing and developing new services. They’ll be able to refine their skills and develop technical knowledge and experience in domain areas specific to the role they play on the team. They’ll be expected to write and debug code, make technical decision, and contribute their technical expertise to the goals of their team.

This person will work directly on a specific service development team. They will also be working with IBM Cloud Infrastructure Information Services teams, as well as development teams from all the different IBM Cloud Infrastructure offering pillars. This includes Compute, Network, Storage, etc. Additionally this person may have to interface with Bluemix / Cloud services teams who may have new requirements for IBM Cloud Infrastructure core platform services.

Technical associate’s degree and academic experience or knowledge of working in at least one of these core languages: PHP5+, C/C++, Java, Python, or Go..

Should be able to diagnose and fix complex software and network issues, and have academic experience or knowledge building tools and systems used in production environments, be proficient with distributed systems design.

Exceptional verbal, written, and teaming skills, organizational abilities and demonstrated multi-tasking abilities.

Object Oriented programming abilities, design principles and patterns.

Object-Relational-Mapping libraries (ORM’s), SQL (Oracle), experience with RESTful web services (XML-RPC, JSON).

6 months experience with multiple of the following technologies: Atlassian Suite (Confluence, Jira, Stash, Bamboo, Crucible), UNIX OS’s (RedHat, FreeBCD, CentOS, Debian), Internet Protocols (HTTP/S, S/FTP, NFS, SAMBA, SSH, etc)
