Software Developer

Develop code, tests, and debugs new software or enhancements to existing software

  • Perform maintenance on existing software products and contribute knowledge of business applications
  • Write programs according to specifications needed
  • Work with the technical staff to understand problems with software and then resolve them
  • Respond to all reported current software production concerns
  • Resolve customer complaints with the software and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements
  • Assist in the development of software user manuals
  • Engage in production support activities on an as-needed basis
  • Provide analysis and design of system changes
  • Support and/or mentor technical staff to understand and resolve problems with software
  • Maintain responsibility for representing the employer as a spokesperson on the behalf of the issues and concerns for the application
  • The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or Computer Engineering required; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree
    • At least ten (10) years of relevant experience required
    • Technical considerations: Each consideration requires a 10+ years of practical experience (must have)
      • Strong general IBM mainframe experience
      • Strong IBM mainframe operating system experience
      • COBOL development and maintenance experience
      • CICS development and maintenance experience
      • VSAM w/IDCAMS knowledge
      • JCL/PROCS knowledge
      • Abend analysis and resolution tools knowledge
      • Online and batch programming troubleshooting tools knowledge
      • Library source maintenance tools knowledge
      • Supporting CMS Common Working File System experience
    • Exceptional organizational skills
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work well with a team, and to execute tasks and projects in a timely and accurate manner
    • Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure
    • Ability to write and present project materials effectively
    • Ability to converse clearly on technical issues with subject matter experts (BAs) and peers (other members of the technical staff)
    • Ability to communicate assigned tasks to peers, senior staff, and supervisors
    • Ability to participate and contribute in closed meetings with members of the technical staff and subject matter experts
    • Ability to converse openly on application, technical, and user issues to any member of the user community for the benefit of the employer
    • Have knowledge of Federal government contracting
    • Have work history of a quarterly or semi-annual maintenance release schedule
    • Have experience in Medicare claims adjudication, Home Health, Skilled Nursing Facility, Durable Medical Equipment, Part A, or Part B processing
    • Experience in full life cycle process
    • Ability to multi-task, be extremely well organized, work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and be very detail-oriented

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit for up to 90% of time
    • Ability to stand for up to 10% of time
    • Ability to lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs.
    • Frequent use of computer
    • Work is performed in an office environment with a low to moderate noise level

    Candidates must, as per Contract/Client requirements:

    • Have the ability to obtain Public Trust – Moderate Risk security clearance
    • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident
