Responsibilities & Requirements

As a Software Development Engineer, you will participate in a team environment to build and maintain full-stack applications focused on delivering analytics and insights in support of enterprise engagement. The incumbent will work closely with a team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts to design, develop, and scale analytic systems to support engagement efforts and experiences across digital and traditional media channels. Seeking candidates who can wear multiple hats and provide leadership in solution design, collaborate closely with stakeholders to build quality requirements, and build both prototypes and production systems of appropriate fidelity for a given effort.

Responsibilities in this role include:
Writing quality, performant code and unit tests, assisting other developers and analysts w/ technical tasks, digging in and getting work done.

Maintaining and improving the overall quality of the codebase by conducting design and code reviews.

Participate in joint application design sessions with business stakeholders and provide technical guidance as appropriate.

Architect solutions, or components of solutions, based on architectural and engineering best practices.

Assess the appropriateness of new technologies for inclusion in current and future applications.

You should bring the following skills and experience to the position:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field and relevant experience in application or database development focused on providing analytics and insights. Education and experience should provide a solid grounding in computer science principles.

Proficient in at least one object orient language such as Java or C#.

Experience building analytics applications leveraging various datastores and paradigms:

Relational: MySQL, Postgres, Oracle

NoSQL: MongoDB, DynamoDB

Search Engine: Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr

Streaming: Kafka, Spark, Storm

Hadoop / EMR: PrestoDB, SparkSQL, Cassandra

Experience working in software engineering environment utilizing the following practices: documentation, coding standards, version control, code review, unit tests.

Working knowledge of AWS Environment and core services: EC2, EMR, Redshift, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, Lambda, etc.

Able to design RESTful micro-services and APIs to access data-focused products.

Experience with continuous integration and delivery.

Able to work well with business customers and engineering and technical partners.

Nice to Have:
Experience bringing machine learning and NLP models to production thru micro-services.

Knowledge of Python data stack to collaborate w/ Data Scientists and Analysts throughout ML development lifecycle.

This position is available at levels I – IV DOE.
