Job Description:

Extreme Networks is seeking a Software Engineer who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and possesses innovative problem solving techniques to help us build Extreme Networks next generation Campus Network Solutions. The successful candidate will become a key contributor within the development team designing, implementing, and testing high quality embedded system software for our Ethernet data switching products.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, unit-test, debug and support verification of features for our embedded data communication products
• Work within our software development methodology, to deliver high quality content on schedule
• Work closely with product verification team in ensuring features are delivered with very high quality
• Work with customers, account teams and PLM to collect and understand customer requirements
• Document design specifications and unit-test plans
• Present information clearly and in appropriate style; make technical information clear.
• Contributing actively in team activities by sharing experiences and ideas.
• Grow into a Subject Matter Expert for key technologies of our products
• Continuously updating job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging software engineering practices and standards
• Participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations

Required Qualifications/Experience:

• Minimum of E/B.Tech or equivalent in CS/EEE/ECE
• 2-10 years of relevant industry experience in Real-time Embedded System and Networking

Required Skills:

Mandatory:

• Introduction to data networking concepts and OSI stack
• Knowledge of one of the following areas:
  • Layer-2 Bridging protocols – STP/MSTP/RSTP, 802.1p/q/v, 802.3ad, 802.1x, IGMP
  • Layer-3 Routing protocols – TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, BGP4, PIM, PIM-SM/SSM, ISIS
  • Platform level system software development for embedded Linux applications
  • Network Management Applications including CLI, SNMPv2 & v3 and RESTConf
• Excellent C/C++ programming skills
• Good knowledge of Linux operating system and embedded applications
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of agile software development models and continuous integration DevOps principals
• Ability to be productive in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
• Collaborate in a cross functional team environment which includes hardware, software, test, and product marketing
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Highly Desirable:

• Understanding of IP data infrastructure and protocol
• Experience in all layers of Data Networking
• Knowledge of scripting languages like Perl, Tcl, Tk and Python
