Software Application Engineer

Job description
As an application software engineer on the Firmware Platforms and Infrastructure team, you’ll apply software engineering skills to develop continuous integration infrastructure, GUI tools, web apps, and automatic code generation tools for embedded software systems used In Tesla vehicles and Tesla Energy systems. You will be building tools that enhance the efficiency of the entire embedded software development organization through improved code reuse, eliminating redundancy, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop web services that enhance the efficiency of the firmware development organization.
• Support plugin development for third party tools like JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Polarion, etc.
• Design and implement build automation systems
• Develop performance and reliability tests for internal applications
• Support the development community with a positive customer service attitude
• Position will require being available to perform maintenance during non-business hours and over the weekends

Requirements

• BS or MS Degree in engineering, science, mathematics, information systems or computer science
• 1+ years of full-time experience or strong internships
• Proficient with Java and Python programming languages
• Experience with web application development (Javascript, HTML)
• Familiarity with database concepts and SQL
• Experience with standard version control systems (Git), build systems (Makefiles/Scons), and release management tools (Jenkins, Jira)
• Familiarity with agile build and development process
• Ability to integrate, synthesize and prioritize user demands and resolve ambiguity
• Ability to quickly shift to a variety of development environments and manage multiple on-going projects

• A proven track record of delivering high-quality reliable build / testing systems
