Social Media Manager

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Manage

1. Develop the strategy and execution plan for Cascade Public Media’s (KCTS 9, Crosscut, and SparkPublic) Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts that leads to deeper audience engagement and drives philanthropy

2. Balance promotional priorities for each brand as well as PBS, local content, Marketing & Communications, Development, and other organizational needs

3. Strategically spend on posts to maximize content distribution, awareness and fundraising needs

4. Target influencers to help expand the reach of social campaigns

5. Choose hashtags and headlines that effectively communicate and categorize content while taking advantage of trending topics

6. Analyze post results and rapidly make adjustments to ensure success

7. Lead the social media team to ensure all brand needs are met by scheduling the social media team to provide excellent service and responding to tweets, Facebook messages, and comments in a timely manner, including during evenings and weekends

8. Follow PBS and local editorial schedules to distribute content across social media accounts

9. Ensure all posts meet brand and quality standards

10. Manage Facebook Live and other social media interviews and productions in partnership with the editorial and production crews

11. Oversee special promotion activities and development of social media plans as requested

II. Coordinate and Administer

1. Coordinate social media messaging across departments and communicate scheduling and priorities with the wider team and organization

2. Analyze and present social media stats at weekly division meeting in collaboration with the Data & Analytics team

3. Provide campaign reports and key learning summaries as requested in collaboration with the Data & Analytics team

4. Follow social media trends, test innovative ideas, explore new platforms, and implement best practices

5. Track social media expenses in partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications. Demonstrate ROI on initiatives

6. Manage promotion priorities and provide direction to team when adjustments are needed

III. Support

1. Provide social media strategy and execution for Marketing & Communications, Content, and Development divisions

2. Attend events to ensure social media coverage

3. Work with corporate underwriting to ensure placement and delivery of paid social posts

4. Manage cross-departmental station initiatives as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience, required

2. Five years of experience in social media and content marketing required

3. Two years of experience managing a team required

4. Prior experience creating social media strategy for a content-based organization preferred

5. Prior experience using social media for philanthropy preferred

6. Strong project management experience, organizational skills, and accountability required

7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

8. Expertise in social media execution and ad buys required

9. Experience with distributing video in social media strongly preferred

10. Facebook Live experience preferred

11. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software, database software and web-based tools required

12. Working knowledge of video and image transfer and management preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

2. Ability to regularly type on a keyboard

3. Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time
