Senior Systems Engineer

JOB TITLE: Senior Systems Engineer Department: Information Technology Location: Sherman Oaks, CA FLSA Status: Exempt

We are seeking a motivated hands-on individual with a broad range of expertise who will provides support and maintenance of our global corporate systems to ensure business operations run smoothly and within compliance of all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. In this Senior Systems Engineering role your responsibilities will include technical design, planning, and implementation of new systems; recommending the redesign and configuration of existing systems; identifying methods, solutions; mentorship and development of junior systems administrators; responding to incidents and emergencies as they come up; project leadership that will provide a high level of service to our customers.

We are a Windows, VMware, Linux, SQL, Exchange, and Cisco environment that also supports OSX and Windows clients along with Wi-Fi Aps and VoIP services. We are going to be migrating much of our infrastructure and associated services into a cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Understand how to deploy, configure, and manage cloud based hardware and software that support websites and custom application services. Experience with AWS desired.

Install, configure, troubleshoot and support servers, load balancers, network equipment and related peripherals.

Experience with automated deployment systems such as GitHub, Puppet or Chef desirable

Provision virtual machines as necessary, allocate resources, perform capacity planning, and monitor both network and systems usage.

Manage and deploy monitoring solutions

Participate in the engineering process for design, build and management of systems

Implement systems security hardening to protect systems from external and internal compromise

Accurately document procedures, configurations, trouble descriptions and problem resolution.

Mentor team members and transfer knowledge to increase team resiliency

Prevent single point of failures across resources and infrastructure to improve business continuity

Work with and provide support to developers to implement solutions as needed, release code, and creatively solve problems.

Participate in incident management and problem management requirements. Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline required.

Relevant information technology certifications preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

5+ years of experience with Microsoft Operating systems and related technologies including, IIS, SQL, Active Directory, Exchange, Office products and patching technologies.

5+ years managing Linux systems.

5+ years working in a 24/7 environment.

5+ years’ experience with VMware and virtualization technologies.

5+ years’ experience with storage technologies, NAS & SAN.

Proficient in one or more scripting languages: Python, PHP, Perl, Unix Shell Script, PowerShell, or similar.

Solid networking fundamentals required. Understanding of Cisco IOS, VLANs, DHCP, SMTP, CIFS, NFS, DNS, NAT and sub netting and IPSec & SSL.

Other desired experience;

Experience with automated deployment systems such as GitHub, Puppet or Chef

Experience working as a hands-on Sr. systems engineer lead within a team of systems engineers/administrators.

Experience working with Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint

Experience deploying and troubleshooting .net, Apache and Tomcat solutions.

Knowledge of performance testing and capacity planning strategies.

Experience with best practices for change management and code releases.

Some exposure to continuous integration and related technologies beneficial.

Experience with automated AWS provisioning and DevOps model a big plus.
