Senior System Analyst (58.17)

The individual in this position reports to the Applications Support Supervisor with the responsibility for providing 24 x 7 support for the Oracle Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) system and associated components (e.g. Oracle Utilities Business Intelligence (OUBI), Mobile Workforce Management (MWM) system, etc.). The incumbent works as part of a “hands-on” onsite support team and as a senior systems analyst with extensive experience in all aspects of information technology.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Executes system analysis for small-to-medium sized projects independently, and provides significant contributions to large/complex projects with assistance from team members.
  • Documents requirements, solution design, diagrams business processes and system workflows.
  • Performs application setups and configurations.
  • Performs rapid and accurate analysis and effective diagnosis of production issues.

  • Provides direct end-user support for any issues or questions related to the applications.

  • Acts on occasion as the primary point of contact with Oracle support services.

  • Analyzes base code problems, refers to Oracle, and tracks to closure.

  • Supports customizations (i.e. configuration, interfaces, modifications, and reports).

  • Lends expertise with system and component upgrades.

  • Recommends and may assist in the testing of patches and upgrades.

  • Recommends, designs, and deploys best practices for new technologies and implementations as well as knowledge transfer and mentoring to other team members.

  • Participates in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.

  • Provides after hours on-call support.

  • Other related duties as necessary to support Company goals and objectives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Computer Science (or related discipline) or equivalent work experience.

  • Seven (7) or more years’ significant systems analysis experience required.

  • Three (3) or more years experience configuring and troubleshooting Oracle’s Customer Care and Billing software.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting application, middleware and database issues.

  • Must have experience in Business Application, Production Control disciplines, and Change Management.

  • Outstanding written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Energetic and self motivated team player with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with project and infrastructure teams.

  • Specific required skills include:

    • Oracle RDBMS 10G (or higher)

    • Knowledge of CC&B in the following areas:

      • Administration and Configuration

      • Framework Business Processes

      • Framework Administration including Configlab

    • SQL
    • Understanding of network technologies/concepts

    • PL/SQL nd Toad

    • Visio

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Weblogic

  • MicroFocus Cobol

  • Java

  • HTML

  • HP Exstream

  • Stellent/Oracle IPM

  • Ability to script in UNIX

  • Experience with BI Publisher

  • Visual Basic (VB)/Perl

  • Working knowledge of various computer hardware platforms such as HP/UX and Windows

  • Ability to develop project plans, track resources, dependencies, budget and due dates for successful project implementations

  • Experience working with JD Edwards

  • Experience working in the Utilities industry
