Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer on our product team, you will be primarily responsible for implementing new product features on OpenSesame’s eLearning marketplace and associated products and services. The product team is responsible for all aspects of software delivery, including planning, development, QA, deployment, and maintenance of multiple websites and services.

Specific Duties:

  • Work with product team to define, implement, test, deploy, and maintain product enhancements and bugfixes
  • Help to ensure that the team is following agile and sustainable practices
  • Provide advice on improvements to product usability and quality

Technologies:
We do not hire based on specific buzzwords, technologies, or popular acronyms on your resumes. Today we use AWS, Ruby, Varnish, Git, Chef, C#, SCORM, AICC, Visual Studio, PHP, MySQL, SASS, jQuery, and Drupal. Tomorrow we may use something else. Whatever technologies, languages, or software programs you have learned, we expect you have mastered them in depth. In addition, we expect you to master and new technologies that may be brought on board in the future.

Requirements:

  • Our start-up environment requires an imaginative thinker with the ability to work independently on simultaneous projects and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Your friends and co-workers describe you as a programming genius and fantastic team player
  • Posses an adaptable, people oriented, friendly can do attitude
  • You love agile Concepts: Paired Programming, Test Driven Development, etc.
  • Your programming ability is way above average as demonstrated by a continuous string of successful projects and completion of at least one programming course or mastery of one language
  • A desire to constantly develop new skills
  • Permanent legal right to work within the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
  • At least 8 years professional experience writing and maintaining software
