Senior Software Developer

ABB is seeking a Senior Software Developer for its Georgia, Atlanta location. The Senior / Advisory Software Developer is a contributor to an agile scrum team primarily responsible for the product development of ABB Enterprise Software Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) software solutions. These EPM solutions incorporate optimization algorithms utilizing linear, mixed-integer, and other mathematical programming techniques to simulate electric and natural gas transmission and distribution networks.

Tasks

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The Senior / Advisory Software Developer will be a key member of the team with the primary responsibility of developing large-scale energy analytics based software products.

  • The candidate would be actively engaged in architecture, design, development, unit testing, and functional testing of proprietary applications.

  • The candidate would also be engaged in troubleshooting and fixing defects on maintenance products. The successful candidate will have excellent programming skills, strong analytical skills and solid understanding of distributed application architecture.

  • The Senior / Advisory Developer reports to the Development Manager and works closely with the Product Management and Customer Support organizations.

Requirements

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience

OR;

  • Master’s degree and 6 years of experience

Alternatively, this position could be staffed at a higher level meeting the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience

OR;

  • Master’s degree and 10 years of experience

Preferred qualification:

  • 2+ years of experience on developing services using WCF or ASP.NET Web API.
  • 2+ years of experience in Entity Framework.
  • 2+ years of experience with SQLServer and/or Oracle data base.
  • 2+ years of professional experience working on agile software engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of WPF based Windows based application software development.
  • 5+ years of experience in application development using C#.
  • 5+ years of enterprise experience working on .NET software engineering teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of OOD, software design patterns , principles, and standards.
  • Experience on Development of Microservices and cloud services.
  • Experience on Microsoft Azure Services.
  • Experience on application profiling tools such as Ants Profiler, dotTrace or SQL Trace.
  • Experience working with large scale application software development.
  • Experience working with LP/MIP solvers like MatLab, Xpress, CPLEX or Gurobi is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills with ability to translate symptoms and problems into root causes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong documentation skills with great attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple teams at the same time.
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, time-compressed and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate into technical designs.
  • Detailed knowledge of software development processes and standards (Agile development, automated testing, GUI standards, etc.)
