Job summary
The Red Hat Quality Engineering team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will search for, analyze, report, and verify bugs in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) kernel and user space. The role will focus on testing the enablement of hardware accelerators. You’ll also analyze and verify reported bugs, design and carry out test scenarios, and automate tasks whenever relevant and possible. We’ll need you to have a passion and desire for testing and examining how things work internally, with a good understanding of Linux and other open source technologies.

Primary job responsibilities

• Write and maintain test plans and automated test cases related to kernel hardware accelerator enablement
• Debug software problems and write clear bug reports
• Provide timely, complete, and accurate testing status reports
• Work with development teams to review test gaps, and determine test levels to confirm both teams are working together to reduce overlap

Required skills

• Experience in software test planning, test design, test script automation, and documentation
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
• Solid skills and background in Linux or UNIX kernel, particularly related to hardware
• Solid debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
• Strong experience using C, Bash, and Python
• Good English written and verbal communication skills
• Solid interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as a part of a globally distributed team
• Experience with GPUs and FPGAs in Linux is a plus
• Experience with frameworks and libraries like OpenHPC, CUDA, OpenCL, Tensorflow, and MxNet is an advantage
