Senior Programmer/Analyst

Development & Analytics teams, internal Product teams, external customers, and partners using various data sources.

As a senior developer, you will be expected to design and implement models, and have the ability to intelligently review the team’s code and apply efficiencies gained through your experience. Further, you will be expected to review and enhance processes where required, recognize areas of potential automation, document new processes, and act upon these areas of improvement in concert with management within Model Implementation. As your experience matures on this team, you will be expected to serve as backup to the existing Lead Programmers in Model Implementation.

The Model Implementation team deploys more code in Production than any team within Equifax. As such, there are significant needs for troubleshooting and potential discrepancy explanation. You will be expected to have superior debugging skills across varied platforms and languages within the IT industry. Frequently, you will work directly with customers and management to diagnose and repair software performance issues.

Clear and effective communication skills are a must . As a senior member of the technical staff, you are expected to predict timelines of new software additions and enhancements to existing software, effectively explain potential deficiencies in existing software, and communicate software additions and enhancements to the team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Implement new models and update existing models using mainly C++ on UNIX/Linux/.NET platforms/Mainframe Assembler
• Interface with products built to fulfill our models: C++/JAVA/PMML/SAS/Mainframe CICS, Assembler, COBOL/etc
• Develop and maintain intimate technical knowledge of Model Implementation based products, utilities, and tools
• Lead debugging efforts, find and explain Root Causes of defects; effectively document RCA’s and apply prevention methods
• Participate in model design sessions, code reviews, and testing reviews
• Document code effectively, document updates to procedures, and maintain effective code version control

SVN/GIT/Confluence/NDVR/NAS file systems

• Interact with our Software Quality Assurance team and Fulfillment Teams to ensure seamless implementation
• Interact intelligently and professionally with internal and external customers
• Strictly adhere to our Software Development Life Cycle, and instruct others similarly
• Strictly adhere to our regulatory policies, Model Implementation procedures, security procedures, and instruct others similarly

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Sciences, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in C++ using UNIX/Linux/Windows OS
• 5+ years of experience in Mainframe Assembler/CICS/COBOL applications is a significant plus
• Working experience with SVN/GIT and other source control applications
• Working experience with various debuggers – Eclipse/GDB/Xpeditor
• Experience with the concept of keying data from multiple databases
• Experience with JAVA/H2O/Python/etc are a plus
• Experience with the Credit industry is a significant plus – specifically the structure of credit files and other credit based data
• MUST be comfortable with an extremely fast-paced and challenging programming environment with many real customers anticipating a perfectly executed implementation with regard to accuracy and timeliness
• Ability to create new and helpful utilities within the team and maintain existing utilities effectively
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• EXCELLENT communication skills
• Effective team player and leader – capable of quickly maneuvering from technical conversation to strategic planning

and logistical thinking

• Attention to Detail – Must adhere to the concept of a complete implementation the first time, keeping the concept

of "patching" as a last resort
