Service Area Overview

Northside Hospital’s Information Systems Department is on the leading edge of providing information technology in a healthcare setting. We connect healthcare professionals with the tools, technology and information they need to provide high quality, compassionate care. We manage and support all aspects of planning, design, implementation and operation of cost-effective information technologies and methodologies. The department promotes and carries out Best Practices in systems integration for the three major Northside facilities and numerous physician practices. In addition to system builds, Information Systems supports network infrastructures, servers, data storage, conventional and wireless connectivity, security, PCs and peripherals devices which directly and positively affect the end users, resulting in improved Patient Care. Position Description

Assists the Applications Coordinator or Manager in the coordination of activities and resources for all hospital financial or clinical applications.

Position Requirements

Reporting to the Physician Content & Education Coordinator, the Senior Physician Liaison will be responsible for acting as a liaison between Information Systems and the Physician community. Responsibilities include:

Providing in-person support to providers while rounding in the hospital
Providing support at all three Northside campuses
Developing and delivering training content
Design and test content for Physician related hospital systems
Documenting provider workflows as it relates to projects
Developing and maintaining relationships with ancillary departments
Participate in the Change Control process

Candidate must be able to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, changing and growing healthcare environment. Being in a project focused environment, this individual must produce consistent yet collaborative work while managing multiple projects independently and in an organized manner. The ability to prioritize and manage time effectively is a must. Previous clinical experience is preferred.

The core physician technologies consist of McKesson systems such as Physician Portal, Mobile Portal, Horizon Expert Documentation (HED), McKesson Anesthesia Care (MAC), and Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), as well as ancillary technologies such as: EMR Integration with Medicity, Anesthesia, and various hospital interface solutions.

B.S. Degree in Nursing, Business, Systems, or related field or Five (5) years healthcare clinical experience.
Two (2) years healthcare clinical systems experience (with B.S. Degree).
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
The days are Monday – Friday.

Required: 1. B.S. Degree in Nursing, Business, Systems, or related field or Five (5) years healthcare financial or clinical experience 2. Two (2) years healthcare financial or clinical systems experience (with B.S. Degree) 3. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. The following Business Office skills are also required: 1. B.S Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics, or Five (5) plus years in Software Development. 2. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Preferred: 1. Five (5) plus years healthcare financial or clinical systems experience (with B.S. Degree) 2. Experience in Project Management 3. Knowledge of McKesson applications The following Business Office skills are also preferred: 1. Experience with Java, Adobe Flex, and/or Perl Software Languages 2. Experience with Linux. 3. Experience with web servers and databases including Tomcat, IIS, MySql, and SQL Server. 4. Experience with version control software, preferably Subversion. 5. Two (2) years healthcare experience.
