Senior Network Technicain Engineer

This role will:

  • Provide advanced/expert level technical input assisting in the support of the St. Jude Medical worldwide network infrastructure.
  • Subject matter expect on multiple St. Jude Network related technologies
  • Translate business requirement into technical solutions
  • Collect and document technical requirements used for design specifications/standards
  • Evaluate requirements and recommend new processes, hardware, software and systems
  • Build, test and deploy network hardware, software, and telecommunications circuits into with the end result being technical standards
  • Effectively identify user and technical dependencies, identify risk, and engage other technical domains to define broader solution sets
  • Establish standards, guidelines, best practices, and produce metrics as directed my management
  • Conduct proactive capacity planning, performance monitoring, configuration tuning and technology refresh
  • Manage & reinforce systems security in accordance with industry best practices and enterprise policy
  • Lead cross technology teams to a common goal or solution
  • Provide project and team lead managerial support to network team members
  • Lead large scale projects or implementations
  • Participates in all call rotation as directed.
  • Mentor and skill development of lower level technical resource
  • Interacts on a daily basis with a wide range of CISCO LAN/WAN switching and routing hardware platforms. Including multiple CISCO IOS/NXOS code versions running on switching and routing platforms.
  • Will interact with variety of networking products including NEXUS switching equipment, F5 load balancers, CISCO Firewalls, Riverbed Interceptors and Steelheads, CISCO wireless access point and controllers.
  • Utilize the following software products in the support and maintenance of St. Jude Medical network and related equipment: NETQOS, NetVoyant, CISCO Prime, IBNA, CISCO Security Manager, Remedy, and CISCO ACS


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, and Mathematics, Engineering, Business or area of functional responsibility preferred, or equivalent 6+ years of industry work experience
  • CISCO CCNA, Required
  • 6+ years of industry experience in a LAN/WAN network design or support, Required
  • Past managerial or team lead roles and/or responsibilities, Required
  • Experience in supporting 100+ node network (routing and switched not PC’s)
  • Technical knowledge level equivalent to Subject Matter Expert in the multiple area (routing (EIGRP/BGP), switching, load balancing, IP address management, WAN Optimization, Firewalls, security, telecommunications circuits)
  • Fluent in LAN/WAN troubleshooting related to routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP), switch configurations, use of current Telecommunications service offerings (TDM, Ethernet, MPLS)
  • Understanding placement use of load balancing, firewall, IP address management, Quality of Service (QOS), IP Sec tunnels technology
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, CISCO hardware/software, and SNMP
  • Ability to develop LAN/WAN technology based and produce standards or architectures documents
  • Ability to mentor and cross training different skill level employee’s
  • Understanding in the application and use of network management tools and monitoring
  • Ability to generate and maintain network related documentation
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model, preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly matrix and geographically diverse business model
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor as well as a team lead in a fast paced changing environment – multi-tasks, prioritized and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Ability to travel worldwide on an as needed or scheduled basis.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Strong organizational, attention to detail and task follow-up skills
  • Multiple Language Skills desired English, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and Malay are mandatory. Spanish and Japanese are a plus.
  • Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner and meeting assigned deadlines
  • CISCO CCNA/CCNP, preferred
