About the Position

The Senior Network Operations Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring the network infrastructure and enterprise network solutions. He/She should have a strong working familiarity with Palo Alto and Cisco products with hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, installing, analyzing capacity issues, and administering routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, IP management and load balancers. His/her work is performed by following procedures and manuals in a team environment, with frequent evaluation from and under close supervision of the Systems Manager – Networking & Telecom.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy company LANs, WANs and Wireless networks including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, load balancers and other related network hardware
  • Research, analyze and recommend implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performance
  • Serve as technical resource on a functional basis for the resolution of complex network problems
  • Participate in various projects intended to continually improve/upgrade network infrastructures
  • Regularly interface with technical and business staff of vendors and internal teams
  • Analyze network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors
  • Access and recommend network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance
  • Provide network planning recommendations to management
  • Document procedures and keep network diagrams and related materials up to date
  • Knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: Web filtering, Open DNS, TACACS+, VPN and Infoblox
  • Ability to work with data center and IT teams to determine space, power and connectivity needs
  • Required to work hours other than regular schedule such as nights, weekends and holidays when needed
  • Create documentation relating to Networking support and best practices as required
  • Perform a variety technology related tasks, as assigned by the Systems Manager – Networking & Telecom
  • Complete all tasks within assigned schedule and budget while maintaining a high level of quality
  • Provide periodic and accurate feedback on status of assignments
  • Identify and communicate problems that affect progress to the Networking Team
  • Resolve, or seek resolution to problems, from peers, immediate manager, or other Operations personnel
  • Follow standards and procedures identified for work assignments
  • Update and maintain all information and documents relevant to assignments in detail
  • Maintain a positive work attitude, a high level of communication and cordial relations that foster team work
  • Resolve requests or change orders in timely fashion

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5 + years of experience in Cisco routing, core switching, Wireless, ASA firewalls, VLAN, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Monitoring tools, network topologies and Cisco network components
  • 2+ years of experience implementing and maintaining Palo Alto policies.
  • 2+ years of experience in Citrix NetScaler or similar load balancing technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with Brocade switches.
  • Strong understanding of WAN Technologies including MPLS, DS3, Ethernet and broadband
  • Strong understanding of advanced network principles and internet architecture
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Must be a fluent in the principles of Network Technology, including but not limited to Network Strategies, Carrier Offerings Design, VPN solutions and Cisco Platforms
  • Knowledge of Network, Security and load
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of Client/Server and Web Application components
  • Candidate should have a track record of excellent team work, written verbal communications, project management, and process
  • Ability to work weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet business needs with occasional travel
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
