Position Description

Candidate will support various enterprise-level LINUX/UNIX systems engineering and virtualization projects. The individual will design, integrate, test, upgrade, and troubleshoot a wide variety of LINUX/UNIX-based solutions, and guide many projects throughout the engineering life cycle.

Requirements

10+ years’ experience and a solid experience profile that can be demonstrated with LINUX/UNIX operating systems

Solid knowledge of Linux operating system internals, file system structures, and machine architectures; performance tuning of Enterprise servers is necessary

Knowledge and experience on Solaris/AIX, Solaris, VMware, RHEL, & SLES

7+ years large environment experience working with enterprise server platforms

5+ years workflow and system administration task automation experience using scripting language such as PERL, and UNIX shells

Detailed knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) schemes, schedules, and testing methodologies, storage data replication, snapshot, RAID, or data movement software, enterprise tape libraries

Working experience with at least one scripting tool; Perl, python, Ruby, and UNIX shell scripts

Experience with the following technologies; Apache, TomCat, JBOSS, PHP, MYSQL, DNS/BIND, Postfix, & Sendmail

Strong working knowledge of Internet networking technologies and principals including TCP/IP and DNS/BIND

Adhere to firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and familiarity with ITIL or other formalized IT operations foundations

Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical peoples both verbally and in writing. Skill in writing concise, understandable, technical documentation is necessary

Must be able to multi-task, be process-minded and detail oriented

Must have excellent written, and verbal communications

Effectively communicates technical actions, ensures audience understands why/what/when work will be accomplished

Proven ability to absorb, master and leverage emerging technologies

Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model

Excellent judgment, problem resolution, and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work under continual deadline pressure

Preferred Skillsets (a plus)

Experience with:

• VMWare, z/VM, and Cloud computing
• Oracle, Apache, Websphere, JBOS, and Java
• DISA STIG’s and general Linux hardening
• Troubleshooting methodologies

Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification
