Senior Linux Engineer

Senior Linux Engineer is required for a unique opportunity to work for a global cloud services organization. This Senior Linux Engineer will be based in their easily accessible Manhattan office (with the opportunity to do up to 60% work from home).

Full-time position available for US/Green Card citizens only please.

The role:

• Planning a modernization of the Linux infrastructure and overhauling server and application security
• Improving the management of systems by coding scripts to automate processes
• Improving availability through introducing high availability and load balancing
• Expanding the network, server and application monitoring to cover business critical systems
• Improving system performance through benchmarking and reorganizing server and application configurations
• Researching new technologies for these environments, devising a long-term strategic plan and execute per plan.

They would look for this talented individual to grow into either team leadership/managerial or Product Owner, DevOps or Architecture roles. There are examples of internal career progression through these routes from this role. An annual training budget is made available and any individual training and development requirements and discussed and agreed as part of the annual performance reviews.

Essential Senior Linux Engineer skills:

• Extensive experience managing Linux systems- Linux (Red Hat / OEL / Fedora / CentOS etc.)
• Strong Linux command lines experience
• Storage
• Strong with one of more scripting languages with Python / Perl / Bash etc.
• Cloud experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or OpenStack would be desirable.
