Senior Java UI Developer

Our direct client is looking for a senior and experienced Java and Web UI developer to be based in Portland, Oregon. This role will be a key contributor to our Product Development practice and will support the development of a variety of software solutions. This resource will, at least during the first assignment, participate in developing software applications within the Educational services domain including but not limited to Assessment, for one of our clients. The role itself is not tied to this specific domain but having prior Educational services experience is highly desirable.

This position is a lead level, leadership position with expectations for both technical leadership, and a force to grow and sustain high quality, technology company culture. Create high-quality software applications and products for clients and/ or internal users, and are expected to be experts in the software languages and tools used or required by clients, specifically Java platform and Web UI (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) platforms and frameworks especially AngularJS, and NodeJS. This includes meeting all requirements/ specifications, testing/ QA requirements, understanding and following software development life cycle methodologies, particularly Agile Scrum, and other client software/ product requirements. This position must be adaptable to changing technology environments, and work collaboratively with all participants in a software development project, particularly in co-development (client and our teams), cross cultural, fast-paced teams, in a “one-team” spirit. May be called upon to fulfill functions related to software development that are not specifically software programming, such as requirements gathering, producing documentation, quality assurance testing, mentoring other developers, and leading projects. This position provides technical guidance and serves as mentor to the more junior level Software Engineer roles. Follows established coding standards and helps establish them if not already established, builds appropriate unit and component tests for web applications using established set of tools and technologies. This person will have significant face to face and email/ chat interaction with key client personnel like Product owner, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, and is expected to have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Java and AWS and Linux is A MUST. Client will also do H1B transfer for the deserving candidates.

Required Skills:

Java developer with relevant work experience of 7+ years and ability to quickly adapt to fast paced Agile development project. Must possess excellent

communication skills and must be a quick learner with organized problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Deep expertise in Java 7 or 8 and especially with building REST services with Jersey API and Dropwizard framework.

Working experience in Async programming. Linux based development environments.
Extensive experience with Java IDEs specifically IntelliJ IDEA. Extensive experience with GIT and GIT based tools – specifically Atlassian Stash, GIT command line.
Experience with AWS
Hands-on experience on MongoDB, PostgreSQL.
Extensive experience with JavaScript build, and packaging tools – specifically Grunt, Bower
Deep expertise with building REST services with Jersey API/ Dropwizard
Experience with working in short sprints in an aggressive fast paced Agile SCRUM team
Ability to work in co-development client teams with fast paced/ time-to-market deadlines
Worked on front end technologies like HTML5, JavaScript, CSS (Less) and frameworks like Angular.js, React.js, Node.js etc.

Welcomed Skills:

Good understanding Unit testing frameworks like Mocha, Jasmine etc.
Good understanding of code analyzers for Test driven development
Good understanding of Continuous delivery and continuous integration (CI/ CD) – tools and services – specifically Jenkins, Docker, Amazon Elastic Beanstalk
