Senior Java Developer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an Java Developer for a contract to hire position with a financial services firm located in Newark, DE.

Responsibilities:
As an application developer the candidate will be required to provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs for a trading systems and Back Office functions.

The Candidate will need to perform design and development and research the various technology standards, incorporate and ensure adherence to the standards.

The candidate will need to do Proof of Concepts, develop and code complex technology problems, help the junior developers on the team and support testing of the various modules or components.

The candidate will need to work in a distributed team environment and provide support to the on going development as well.

The candidate is expected to provide input to the design and provide input to the information and the data flow and to comply with the project life cycle methodology.

Ability to design and implement Enterprise level applications, work in a N-Tier, highly scalable and highly available systems in a multi-tier environment

Ability to solve problems.

The candidate is expected to be a solutions-oriented, out-of-the-box thinker who frequently comes up with new and innovative ways of doing things.

People on agile teams work together to solve technical problems, handle issues, and interface with other teams.

Working in a very collaborative environment, participate in all stages of applications development process.

You are expected to work interdependently – collaborate, negotiate, make trade-offs, handle conflicts

Good communication skills

Required Skills:
8+ years of Applications Development experience

Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills

5+ years of Object Oriented Analysis & Design

5+ years development experience in: Java 1.5/1.6, J2SE, Spring Framework and JavaScript

3+ years of development in any ESB system preferably in Mule 1.x and any JMS technology like MQ or Active MQ.

5+ years of experience in XML technologies and various parsers like JAXB or JiBX

5+ years of development in the Oracle including Stored procedures and in tuning SQL statements, writing indexes

5+ years of development with Hibernate/i-Batis

Experience of multithreaded systems

Experience with JMS, JUNIT, Maven

3-4 years in a financial industry support experience is preferred. (Brokerage/banking is preferable)

Unix experience and be able to write shell scripts or debug them

Tuning Java applications and experience with running profilers and detecting and resolving various performance issues and memory leak issues

Experience with Trading / compliance / portfolio management applications

Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.

Strong research, investigation and evaluation skills. Takes personal initiative, conscientiousness and complete follow-through on the areas of responsibilities.

Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with advanced design patterns and advanced Java concepts

TDD , Unit Test, Integration Test Artifacts

Continuous integration methodology and Cruise Control a big plus

7+ experience with Tomcat and JSP and Oracle server Pages.

Experience with successful implementations of highly scalable and highly available systems in a multi-tier environment.
