Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Deliver technical infrastructure services by designing, maintaining and supporting the infrastructure environment, analyzing business requirements and assisting with the resolution of complex issues to ensure usability and alignment with business objectives.

Primary responsibilities

  • Support and maintain hardware, software and connectivity components by analyzing the functionality of infrastructure framework and designing and planning major upgrades and changes to ensure reliability and availability
  • Support team member development by reviewing and analyzing complex infrastructure issues, communicating feedback to team members, sharing knowledge, responding to inquiries and providing recommendations on best practices
  • Manage the installation, maintenance and monitoring of hardware and software tools by analyzing business requirements and defining standards and quality criteria to ensure consistency and alignment with company initiatives
  • Provide support for infrastructure framework by responding to escalated issues, troubleshooting errors and developing technical solutions to ensure implementation of process improvements
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders by regularly communicating, clarifying technical solutions and supporting timely and efficient team operations by utilizing and sharing knowledge and expertise

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience: 5 years relevant experience

Licenses/Certifications: NA

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Degree in Computer Science or related field

Experience: Infrastructure engineering experience; increasing levels of responsibility

Licenses/Certifications: Microsoft MCSE, VMware Certification, PMP, EMC Certification

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of two or more infrastructure technologies including Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Exchange Messaging, UNIX, IBM AS/400, IBM Mainframe, EMC Storage Systems, Backup and Recovery tools, VMware virtualization, Citrix and Infrastructure applications and Middleware technologies
  • Working knowledge of fundamental IT concepts, systems, platforms, tools and technologies, hardware, software and services
  • Working knowledge of common computer-related terminology
  • Working knowledge of products and concepts relating to the insurance industry
  • Applied knowledge of processes and procedures for maintaining and troubleshooting tools and technologies
  • Applied knowledge of the design, development, and application of technology for specific purposes

Work environment

Travel frequency: Infrequent (approximately 1-4 trips annually)

Physical demands: General office jobs

Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer. Incumbent must be able to lift basic office equipment up to 20 pounds.
