Senior HP NONSTOP Application Developer (L12)

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Senior Application Developer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of application systems that support one or more of the business functions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads development processes for multiple applications, programs and/or platforms.
  • Is viewed as the subject matter expert in one or more applications or platforms.
  • Drives use of SYF best practices across area.
  • Works with complicated and business critical applications across functional areas.
  • Works across solutions requiring integration across multiple platforms and/or business areas.
  • Develops testing approach and build test cases to test core business functionality.
  • Defines and explains the impact of requirements on system components across multiple functional areas.
  • Apply knowledge from outside SYF POS to improve SYF POS practices.
  • Develops Technical Design Document.
  • Codes applications, data bases, interface programs.
  • Configures software packages.
  • Conducts peer review (Unit Test).
  • Creates Unit Test cases.
  • Documents code (comments).
  • Documents system functionality.
  • Updates code to address defects and enhancements.
  • Manages off-shore development deliverables; in terms of milestones and quality.
  • Verifies Work Estimates.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology; OR 2) In lieu of the Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with HP NONSTOP (Tandem)application development.
  • Miniumun of 5 years experience with C and Cobol development.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Understanding of Legacy Systems best practices;
  • POS/Banking knowledge.
  • Proven ability to analyze and understand existing processes and code.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • If currently a Synchrony Financial Employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 6 months (Level 4 – 7) or 24 months (level 8 or greater), have at least a "consistently meets expectations" performance rating and have the approval of your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR to apply if you don’t meet the time-in-job or performance requirement
