Senior Developer

Analyze, design and develop Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing applications to support our client-facing products. Provide support for production applications and support to internal customers for product development/SDLC. Focus will be on ETL work in two supported environments including coordination of DevOps responsibilities (e.g.; version control, change control, automated deployment, etc.) consistent with our SDLC.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

Provide production support to existing production applications and data feeds. (30%)

Monitor the ETL services, application servers and jobs (daily, weekly, monthly)

Troubleshoot applications and report issues to Management

Communicate with the user on the resolution.

Design solutions for new business opportunities or project tasks. (10%)

Perform detail design for the application

Create design specification documents,

Review designs and documents with the team

Identify, address and resolve any design issues

Develop solutions by creating accurate, robust and efficient ETL applications per requirements. (50%)

Estimate time needs for project management

Follow DevOps and SDLC steps as directed, including unit testing

Document delivered solution and review with team

Participate in team meetings and administrative activities as directed. (10%)

Promptly report time spent

Prompt attendance at meetings

Education & Knowledge Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or comparable work history.

Experience / Skills / Abilities Required

4+ Years with Bachelors degree or 10+ years work experience with three years in application development.

Demonstrated ability to design and develop custom software applications using a diverse group of software languages, tools and platforms.

Administer report server, application server and configuration management (CM) role for the data warehouse applications.

Supported platforms: Linux (RHEL), Windows

Database: HP Vertica, MySQL, Sybase, MS SqlServer. Should have strong general familiarity with standard database concepts such as schema design, indexing and cardinality, in-memory operations.

Languages/Software: Strong SQL skills including sub-statements, case logic, etc. Comfort with tracing/editing Java and ASP/.NET needed. Strong understanding of service-oriented concepts and tools – REST services, SOAP services, XML, JSON. Practical experience with unstructured data and non-traditional systems (Hadoop, Cassandra, Couchbase, map reduce, etc.) highly desired.

Specifically looking for experience with Pentaho Kettle/Spoon and/or RedPoint.
