Who are we looking for?

The Scrum Master plans and executes sprint planning, conducts daily scrum meetings, prepares retrospectives, etc. to support the successful delivery of client projects. This position reports to the Business Management Center of Excellence.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Work with project team members to break down deliverables into User Stories and tasks.

Utilize standard agile practices to conduct sprint planning across a multi-disciplined team.

Conduct daily stand-ups and scrums.

Conduct the sprint retrospective meetings and effectively implement lessons learned into future sprints.

Effectively mentor others on agile and sprint planning concepts.

Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Sprint Plan, in order to align the stakeholders and team members.

Effectively partner with the Project Manager for the delivery of Hybrid projects that utilize both Agile and WaterFall methodologies.

Participate in planning of Epics and longer term planning.

Execute the tasks as defined in the sprint plan in order to achieve the sprint goals.

Effectively track and plan defects and tie back to specific deliverables.

Plan / participate in the demonstration of executable code as delivered by the sprint.

Communicates information and ideas in writing so others will understand.

Qualifications and Technical Skills:

Experience with third-party system support with preference given to insurance / financial services platforms.

Knowledge of IT systems, governance and compliance

Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development and incremental delivery

Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures

Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by the development team

Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity and task definition

Knowledge of best practices for writing effective user stories

Knowledge of annuities and life products – prefer over 1 year experience

Leadership –

Strong results orientation, organization and management skills

Ability to lead and focus the efforts of others to established goal – prefer greater than 2 years experience

Excellent oral/written communications skills

Relationship management skills

Good team player and ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and established good internal relationships

Agile certification preferred (CSM, SMC, ACP, etc.) – over 2 years of agile experience preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
