Summary:

Duties include the duties of the OR Scheduler I (See Job Profile for Job Code 614000133) and additional responsibilities, to include consolidation of daily surgical schedule, acts as a trainer and resource for new employees, validates and confirms procedures scheduled by a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator I

Responsibilities:

*(Scheduler I) Provide reception duties in the Scheduling office. Answer phone calls timely and respond according to need. Triage phone calls to appropriate scheduler or staff member, avoiding putting the customer on-hold. Distributes mail.

*(Scheduler I) Schedule procedures and patient visits using the Pathway Surgical Manager information system, and in accordance with the scheduling rules and guidelines written by the Scheduling Policy Committee, in collaboration with the directors of the surgical services department, the program director, and the members of the Clinical Surgical Committee. The Scheduling Policy Committee consists of all the Scheduling Coordinators and the Scheduling Department Manager.

*(Scheduler I) Enter post-case data accurately and timely into PSM. Incomplete OR records must be returned to the unit for completion and returned for entry immediately. Post-case date entry error reports will be run before the end of each working day and corrections made prior to the end of the day.

*Schedules procedures/visits for all sites that the Scheduling Department is responsible for.

*Maintain the Clinical Privilege notebook in collaboration with the Office of Medical Staff Affairs.

*Serves as trainer, mentor and resource to new employees in department.

*Confirms scheduled procedures/appointments for the next day with physician offices and clinical sites. See Confirmation Policy for process description. Confirmation of procedures for Scheduler Is.

*Next day appointment confirmations with Physician offices, and all other appropriate sites.
