SAP BI Applications Developer

Scope of Position:

The SAP BI Applications Developer will participate in the development and support of Business Intelligence (BI) applications and reporting solutions within EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE), primarily using EDF RE’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) system using SAP HANA. The developer will work with key personnel in all areas of the company. (S)He will have extensive knowledge and skill in Native HANA Model Designing, BOBJ tools, BEx and reporting solution design and development. Although hands-on, this person will have an analytical mind with the ability to ask questions to guide the EDF RE personnel in the design and development of meaningful BI application and reporting solutions. The Developer will help drive EDF RE’s use of available Enterprise BI and DW tools. (S)He will also be a strategic thinker that will assist in shaping, planning and implementing IT’s vision for future BI applications and reporting development. Candidates should have expert level understanding of SAP BI and SAP HANA tools, technologies and methodologies. Candidate should have expertise in SAP BW Integrated Planning (IP) for designing and developing Planning applications.

Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain BI application and reporting solution, working with Business, IT and vendor teams.

· Understand requirements, develop functional/technical design documents and communicate solutions that will be implemented

· Develop/contribute to application roadmaps/implementation approach and project plans.

· Develop Native Hana Models / BW HANA Models and BI/BW reports primarily using Business Explorer (BEx) and BusinessObjects (BOBJ) programs.

· Determine how to leverage technology to create solutions that satisfy the business requirements including data provision to and from the HANA platform.

· Integration of SAP BW queries developed using BEx and Web Application Designer is required.

· Serve as a technical resource for business teams to help define, estimate, and propose solutions for business opportunities.

· Perform requirements analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of BI applications and reporting solutions

· Develop proofs-of-concept and prototypes to help illustrate approaches to technology and business problems.

· Prepare visual diagrams of system architecture, functionality, and process flows. Understand and actively support EDF RE’s application architecture and IT strategy.

· Work with Business and IT team members (onsite/offsite), to ensure proper implementation of solution.

· Educate organization on available and emerging toolsets.

· Present solutions to leadership, project teams, and other stakeholders adapting style to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Determine and use available tool to make the report that best fit for analysis and presentation

· Develop end-user Test scripts to assure expected performance quality levels meet standards in development efforts.

· Work with business team members to complete System and Integration Testing.

· Communicate with users for business questions, project updates, follow ups, data and report validations, sign offs and for overall support.

· Analyze and communicate issues and resolution, including problems with data integrity, data design, functional, technical and software issues.

· Prepare project related documentation including object designs, business rules, technical information etc.

· Provide support and maintenance of the existing environments (development, quality assurance and production).

· Collaborate with the IT and user(s) departments to develop specifications for system enhancements for continuous improvement.

· Provide end user support during enhancements, upgrades and implementations as needed

· Comprehend and comply with IT policies and processes.

· Maintain a good working knowledge of current and new software functionality available related to assigned systems, through independent research, and attending relevant conferences, trade shows, and vendor-sponsored events.

· Participate as a productive collaborative team member

Qualifications:

· 8 years of SAP BI and DW experience are required.

· 5 years of BOBJ experience required.

· Expertise on SAP HANA modeling for data provisioning and optimizing the models

· Expertise with performance tuning the HANA environment

· Expertise in HANA Live and SAP HANA Modeler.

· Expertise in developing and maintaining data models, ETL programs and complex queries

· Expertise in data integration from various source systems and developing unified data architecture and models

· Expertise in designing and developing SAP BW IP applications.

· Knowledge of SAP Financials, Procurement, Sales and HR is required.

· The developer is responsible for regular communications with Business and IT support groups.

· Experience with creating BOBJ reports based on HANA Native Models through IDT Universes.

· Extensively worked in design and development of custom Extractors from ECC.

· Experience in extraction of data from ECC using the standard content and development of BI Objects like Data source, DSO, Cube, Multi Provider, Open Hub and Process Chain etc.

· Knowledge in ECC 6.0 particularly in FICO, PS, MM and PM areas.

· Ability to align the BI requirements with proper tool(s) to satisfy the BI solution requirement.

· Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with SMEs, super-users, internal and external IT resources on assigned projects, working toward common business objectives, timelines, and quality delivery.

· Knowledge to write ABAP Code where necessary is nice to have.

· Knowledge in building reports using Webi, Universe, Analysis for Office etc.

· Knowledge of routine BASIS activities is preferred.

· Knowledge of reporting tools tableau is a plus.

· 2 years of experience in energy, construction, real estate development or similar project management-intensive industry is preferred.

· Bilingual (English/French) a plus.
