Part-time (19 hours per week)

Salary: $11.00 per hour


AGENCY DESCRIPTION : The Office of the State Appellate Public Defender provides appellate and post-conviction representation for indigent defendants pursuant to Idaho Code § 19-868.

SPECIFIC DUTIES : The Runner performs a wide variety of support functions that enable the agency to function effectively. This is a part-time position with scheduled hours Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Photocopy and prepare briefs and correspondence to be mailed or filed in court;
  • Go on a daily run to courts and the Statehouse mail room;
  • File legal documents at the Idaho Supreme Court and Ada County District Court;
  • Organize, file, and maintain opened and closed case files;
  • Answer, screen, and route telephone calls; and
  • Assist support staff with file photocopying and locating clients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate will have a clean driving record for the past three years, proof of valid insurance, and a reliable vehicle. Gas reimbursement will be based on the State of Idaho per diem reimbursement rate set by the Board of Examiners .

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES : The ability to maintain client confidentiality is a must. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, have experience operating basic office equipment including copy machines, fax machines, and binding machines, as well as have a working knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
