As a key member of the Risk Management team, the Risk Analyst will conduct risk assessments, enterprise-wide and assist with the development, management, and implementation of enterprise risk management (ERM) program initiatives. This is a service-oriented position and collaborates with internal staff, cross-functionally and with third-party vendor relationships. Functions as a liaison with internal and external consultants, auditors, and examiners for risk and compliance related matters.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management in the research and analysis of the credit union’s risks and exposure. Provides recommendations for the development of internal control systems to minimize significant exposure to risk, reputation, and compliance issues. Minimizes audit and examination findings.
  • Coordinates and performs risk assessments in deposit operations, lending, accounting and finance, and key compliance topics, such as: BSA, OFAC and ACH. Documents risk description and mitigating responses, including risk rating KRIs. Tracks KRIs and periodic reporting to management and key stakeholders.
  • Manages Risk Management’s software applications relating to vendor management, business continuity, fraud and compliance systems and processes. Software management activities may include acting as system admins and provide refresher training sessions with end-users.
  • Performs monitoring reviews and provide written reports relating to the incident response program, member complaints, information security and other areas included in the Risk Management’s annual risk and compliance monitoring plan.
  • Participates in new projects and initiatives; reviews and provides appropriate recommendations to reduce risks and exposure.
  • Prepares agenda items and participates in the Risk Management Committee (RMCO) meetings. Assists with the follow up with any outstanding items as discussed in committee meetings and/or briefings to management.
  • Exercises an appropriate level of courtesy, tact, and professional communications in dealing with credit union employees, members, and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2-year experience in the financial industry (banks and credit unions). 2-year experience in risk management roles and responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, i.e., B.A. or B.S.
  • CUERME certification is preferred. If no certification, Credit Union will pay for employee to acquire certification. We require certification to be completed within 12-18 months of employment.
  • Understands COSO/ERM framework and concepts. Experience and working knowledge of ERM risk and analytical software applications.
  • Working knowledge of consumer protection state and federal laws and regulations, including key rules and regulations as required by the NCUA and WA State DFI.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, keep pace, meet tight deadlines, and coordinate and communicate effectively among widely-dispersed key stakeholders. Organized, adaptable, flexible, collaborative approach to getting this done.
  • Highly analytical with incisive presentation skills (written and oral).
  • Strong member service orientation and demonstrated skills in managing relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office Suite products.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position reports to work weekdays standard business hours: may require some outside business hours/weekends
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
  • May be required to attend off-hours and off-site meetings and seminars.
  • May require some traveling.
  • Indirect exposure to robbery.
