Retail Associate

The Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (GoodwillSR) Retail Associate’s job is to create excellent relationships with donors, shoppers, and co-workers and to ensure that all customers are treated to a great donating and/or shopping experience. Team members will cross-train in various areas of the retail environment, to include but not limited to, cashiering, donation processing and donation intake.

Operating Hours and Days

Full time position averages 30-40 hours per week. Part time position averages 20-25 hours per week. Hours can and will fluctuate based on, but not limited to, business needs, i.e. seasonal changes, donation changes, etc. Operating days may fluctuate based on store location but can include Monday-Sunday operating days. This position is for our store located 3740 Pepperell Parkway Opelika, AL 36801.

Requirements:
Cashier

• Operate a cash register to assist customers with purchasing and/or returning donated goods. Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities at POS registers.
• Ensure that each guest receives outstanding customer service by providing a guest friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest and sharing solid product knowledge.
• Assist customers with questions, to include but not limited to, item price and color of the week
• Assist with maintaining the sales floor’s and dressing room’s organized appearance by organizing shelves, putting away carts and returning merchandise from the dressing room to the sales floor
• Utilize suggestive selling techniques for the Round-Up campaign
• Other duties as assigned

Donor Greeter

• Greet donors, with excellent customer service, quickly and efficiently
• Receive donated goods from donors by unloading vehicles and carrying in donated items
• Provide donation receipts to donors
• Maintain accurate donation records of donors
• Organize donations into bins to assist with donation processing
• Assist processors with sorting and processing of donated goods
• Assist truck drivers with loading and unloading donations
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Obtained or in current pursuit of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); preferred. Prior experience will be considered in lieu of education.
• 1 year of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.

Work Environment

This job operates in a retail/warehouse environment. Team members may be subject to indoor and outdoor conditions, dust, dirt, irritants and other allergens, noise, heat and cold temperatures.
