Research Intern

Understanding how teams use software analytics to drive development at Microsoft :: Visual Studio Team Services is enabling its users to perform exploration and analysis of software process-related data and thus obtain insightful and actionable information for completing various tasks around software systems, software users, and software development process. Understanding how software development teams consume the Analytics service data is a key to providing them with a great experience along with discovering interesting ways in which various teams do software analytics. The goal of this internship will be to uncover how customers use Analytics service and develop key insights about (i) data-driven software development; and (ii) how to improve the Analytics service. As an intern, you?ll have direct access to various teams using the Analytics service and the historic data of queries they execute to satisfy their day-to-day analytics needs. Using a mix of ethnography and quantitative methods, the central aim is to understand the high and low points of our users while uncovering new knowledge about data-driven software development and share it with the larger software engineering community.
