Research Engineer

Carry out research and administration duties beyond the scope of individual students and post-docs, improve the technical expertise at the Energetic Materials Combustion Lab, and develop new research avenues utilizing existing and improved experimental resources. The position will be placed at the Energetic Materials Combustion Lab (EMCL).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering or related discipline with a strong background in energetic materials, and in particular propellants.
  • Five years’ experience beyond degree, working in the industry or similar experience with combustion of propellants or energetic materials.
  • Knowledge of combustion, propellants, fabrication, and experimental methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialized lab techniques, trouble shooting, and problem solving skills.
  • Discretion and independent judgment in all areas of research including choosing methods and strategies and avoiding loss of valuable research time and resources.
  • Responsible and accountable for design of lab experiments.
  • Ability to delegate and manage day-to-day research procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
