Within this program, GlobalCapital is hiring a Graduate Trainee to join their team based in New York.


GlobalCapital,
the capital markets newspaper published by Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC, is looking for a research manager, to be a vital part of the editorial team running the data the newspaper publishes from its New York office. The data includes a number of priced deals and deal pipeline databases focusing on different sectors of the capital markets.

The role will ultimately grow into a hybrid of database and research manager and reporter, bridging a gap between databse management and pure editorial. However, the role is not meant to be a path to a ful time reporter or editor position. These products are an essential part of GlobalCapital’s business and their importance to the newspaper as it collaborates with other conference and publishing businesses within the Company.


Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of all of GlobalCapital’s databases based in London and BondMarker, making sure that hthe newspaper’s data is as flawless as possible to give subscribers the most reliable picture of what is happening in their markets.
  • Run the administrative aspects of GlobalCapital’s various polls and awards, publishing surveys online and monitoring and promoting voting to ensure the fullest participation to ensure our awards surveys give the best and fairest picture possible of success in the primary capital markets.
  • Build relationships with key capital markets professionals and contacts of the newspaper with the aim of becoming the first point of contact for all external providers looking to contribute data to GlobalCapital’s databses, or to place votes on our awards surveys.
  • Find new ways of presenting and promoting GlobalCapital’s data products to both users and the wider public where appropriate to build the newspaper’s reputation as a reliable source of insightful and distinctive capital markets data.


Keys Skills and Experience
  • A demonstratable interest in and aptitude for both the capital markets and financial publishing.
  • A keen interest in data, its presentation, and its uses within the business.
  • Any financial markets experience is an advantage but not essential, although the suvvessful candidate will need to learn about the markets and our data products cover to the extent that they will be able to work independently with market professionals withou a significant knowledge gap existing between them.
  • Attention to detail and impeccable standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and handle various responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under own direction when required. Inexperience notwithstanding, this is not a job that will suit people who need contact supervision.
  • Ability to forge relationships with senior people in financial markets.
  • Willingness to travel abroad and work outside regular hours when required.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • GlobalCapital is, as its name suggests, a global newspaper, therefore an understanding of any potential impact of the European General Data Protection Regular (GDPR) will be essential.
  • Eligiblity to work in the US.


About the Graduate Trainee Program:
The Training Program provides hands-on experience to learn and make a contribution to the business and will include both informal and structured training, coursework, timely feedback and ongoing evaluations.

The primary goal of the program is to provide a representative work experience to determine if there is a permanent fit between the individual and the organization. But even if there isn’t, candidates will be well prepped and trained in a variety of business disciplines for whatever they decide to pursue next.

The program is six-months in duration during which time participants will be compensated at a rate of $40,000.00 per year. After being placed within one of our businesses, in addition to a direct supervisor who will provide training, assignments and feedback, candidates will be assigned a mentor- someone to turn to with questions or advice on any issue. In addition, our Human Resources department will be available from the start to act as a central source of information/feedback. Senior staff involved with the program will also be available throughout.

Only applicants who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree by May 2018 will be considered for the program. Interviews will be conducted in May and the program will start in June/July.
