PROJECT MANAGER

Position Description:

At a high level, the Project Manager Consultant will provide the following services:


Plan the Project:

o Plan the delivery of the overall project and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization

o Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the project/ organization

o Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the project

o Develop a project evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the project and to identify areas for improvement

o Develop proposals for the project to ensure the continuous delivery of services, production support and future release strategy to the rollout of the project to various business units across Andover.

o Facilitate the Agile process ensuring the remaining project scope of delivery towards the first go-live is agreed by all parties and appropriately planned out in a release plan.

o Maintain an overall roadmap visual of the project which incorporates the release plan.

o Maintain oversight of all project interdependencies, and highlight the likely critical paths in the program to the Andover Companies program manager.


Organize the Project:

o Ensure that project activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization

o Ensure that project activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards, including internal and external auditor requirements

o Develop forms and records to document project activities

o Oversee the collection and maintenance of records of the project for statistical purposes per the confidentiality/privacy policy

o Support and initiate overall risk management throughout the course of the project

o Assist the Product Owner with continual backlog grooming

 Staff the Project:

o Recommend and support the implementation of a performance management process for all project staff/ teams (dates are met, deliverables achieved, quality metrics maintained)

o Ensure schedule adherence is met and balanced resourcing is maintained


Lead the Project:

o Communicate with staff and other stakeholders to gain support for the project and to solicit input to improve the project and to determine dependencies among project tracks

o Liaise with other managers to ensure effective and efficient project delivery

o Coordinate the delivery of services among different project activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency

o Facilitate sprint planning, retrospective meetings, and sprint demos

o Support the team with standards for User Stories and Epics, and ensure proper structure within JIRA


Control the Project:

o Ensure an appropriate agile process is adhered to which upkeeps a backlog of work in an industry acceptable format

o Ensure appropriate consistency across the teams in the use of Agile

o Write reports on the project for management and executive teams

o Communicate/ coordinate vendor agreements as outlined in contractual agreements

o Ensure led project tracks operate within the approved budget

o Monitor and approve all led budgeted project expenditures

o Monitor projections and report actuals and variances to the Executive Directors on a regular basis (monthly)

o Manage all project funds for led portions of the project according to established accounting policies and procedures

o Ensure that all financial records for led portions of the program are up to date and maintained

o Ensure all project reporting records for the led portions of the program are up to date and maintained

o Ensure financial reports and supporting documentation are prepared

o Provide required information to have invoices from vendors approved (audited by PM) and submitted for payment

o Identify and evaluate the risks associated with project activities and take appropriate action to control the risks

o Monitor the project activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation per the project evaluation framework.

o Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing and support the Andover Companies Program Manager with status reporting


Position Requirements:
10+ years of consulting experience within the IT industry
5+ years of project management experience implementing web-based applications under Agile and Scrum methodologies
Experience managing/leading multiple teams on implementations of 10+ people with both onsite and offsite delivery models/components
Strong communication skills, with an ability to express complex business concepts in technical terms via presentations and written forms

Property and casualty insurance experience

InsuranceNow experience preferred
