Reliability Engineer

The Reliability Engineer ensures mechanical technical quality of systems and system designs with a strong focus toward a preventive/predictive maintenance program which adds technical improvements to existing mechanical systems, and designs and documents unique application systems.

General Responsibilities:

  • Engineering support for maintenance department in performing preventive maintenance (PM) and repair activities for critical plant equipment, including fixed assets (tanks, pressure vessels and piping) and rotating machinery.
  • Lead and Provide analysis of failed equipment to determine and eliminate cause(s).
  • Advise, review and approve temporary repairs and modifications to equipment – piping repairs, on stream (hot) tapping, etc. (Management of Change).
  • Review, improve, establish and maintain equipment lubrication program.
  • Review, Establish and improve the maintenance PM and PdM programs as required to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Lead and support ME implementation/process including site specific SAP requirements and Stores operations.
  • Advise on proper execution and documentation of repair and preventive maintenance (PM) activities for both rotating and fixed assets. Lead and support job plan and shop paper development in these activities.
  • Perform safety and work quality audits of hourly employees executing maintenance activities.
  • Identify and interface with preferred equipment manufacturers, specialists, and technical support consultants.
  • Lead, develop and maintain job plans for specific repair activities.
  • Develop, maintain and update maintenance documentation (e.g. repair reports, bill of materials, upgrade recommendations) for critical plant equipment.
  • Support site Maintenance Department planners and coordinators as required.
  • Assist Mechanical Integrity Inspectors and condition monitoring data interpretation; recommend actions based on these analyses.
  • Provide the first line of technical support to maintenance and operating personnel for issues related to stationary and rotating equipment maintenance and reliability.
  • Provide assistance with equipment performance troubleshooting as requested/required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ Years experience of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

5 years of Reliability Engineering experience in heavy industrial settings (Chemicals, Petroleum, Steel, Pulp & Paper, etc.) with rotating or fixed equipment (examples; pumps, blowers, compressors, screw conveyors, belt conveyors, bucket elevators, boilers, pressure vessels, tanks & piping).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in working with SAP.
  • Work experience in design, repair, maintenance, reliability, failure mode analysis, and inspection of chemical, petrochemical, or process equipment is desirable.
  • Experience with reliability tools such as RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis, FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), Weibull Analysis (Reliability Life Data Analysis), statistical analysis, etc. is desirable.
  • Experience with facilitating engineering processes, principles, and maintenance & reliability functional excellence capability is desirable.
