Recreation/Enterprise Facility Manager II (13432, 12828, Grade 22)

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a six time National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner is seeking two Recreation/Enterprise Facility Managers for its Central Area Operations Division. The selected candidates must be creative, customer service oriented and able to work well in a team environment.

The salary range for this position is $51,704 – $70,088.

Examples of Important Duties:
Responsible for Management and Supervision of Programs

Monitors and maintains a high volume of community related classes, programs and events (Day Camps, community events).

Monitors a schedule of external user groups for the use of the facility (rentals, schools, elected officials).

Coordinates special events. Management and Supervision of Employees

Effectively counsels, evaluates and meets all performance evaluation deadlines.

Provides training opportunities for employees.

Responds to staff inquiries and/or concerns in a timely manner.

Accurately maintains and monitors employees’ time cards (KRONOS) while developing a year-to-date tracking system of hours worked/payroll expenses.

Interviews, recommends and initiates all personnel actions for the center staff. Responsible for Oversight in Managing Administrative Requirements of the Facility to include budget.

Effectively prepares various reports as required.

Monitors expenses and revenue projections for the facility operations.

Closely monitors expenditures to include intermittent staff salary logs, purchases such as office supplies, various equipment needs, specialized department needs, etc.

Maintains all aspects of fiscal budgeting reports for individual OCA codes and communicates through various means to inform supervisors of the venue/department budget status.

Keeps current all standards and licenses as required by the Prince George’s Health Department and all the governing bodies of the Prince George’s Health Department.

Initiates all purchases for the facility while adhering to Commission Procurement procedures.

Effectively interprets and enforces M-NCPPC policies/procedures with staff.

Responds effectively to inquiries, concerns and complaints from the public.

Prepares Accident/Incident Reports in accordance with Commission requirements. Operational Safety Procedures of Venue

Coordinates operational needs with staff and keeps all equipment and venues in operating, safe and top conditions.

Coordinates marketing, special events and customer service needs with appropriate staff.

Coordinates inventory of all equipment, supplies and materials necessary for effective management of the facility.

Responsible for management of the Fixed Assets and Divisional Controlled Inventory.

Responsible for maintaining a neat and attractive venue. Responsible for Coordination of Assignments and Other Miscellaneous Responsibilities

Effectively completes all assigned committee tasks as required.

Meets all MOD responsibilities within the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; and

2. Three years of progressive professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty, including one year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor; or

3. An equivalent combination of education and experience; and,

4. A valid operating license (i.e. county pool operator’s license, child care license, etc.) where appropriate.

5. A valid driver’s license may be required.
