Records and Information Management Specialist

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a qualified individual to provide records and information management support services to several Mission Areas.

Job Summary:
Acting in a lead role capacity, support the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and distribution of high volumes of high-value operational and organizational data records and information.

Duties
:

  • Responsible for ensuring that mission critical information is acquired, catalogued, stored, retrieved, and distributed in a timely manner and in accordance with Laboratory and US Government agency requirements. (40%)
  • Collaborate with Sector technical and program staff to support, facilitate, and coordinate internal responses to sponsor initiated requests for reviews of technical information. (30%)
  • Research and retrieve information from internal and external sources in response to customer requirements and requests. (15%)
  • Engage in the development of operational, procedural, and technological improvements to enhance the delivery of records and information management services. (15%)

    Qualifications

    :
    Required Qualifications:

    HS Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of relevant administrative support experience. Work and performance history must reflect a motivated individual with strong communications, organizational, and inter-personal skills. The individual has demonstrated the ability to work independently and use critical thinking skills in managing and coordinating the flow of high-value information. Must have a working proficiency with Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience with using databases to enter, search, and retrieve records. Working knowledge and experience in handling and processing classified material and working with classified workstations in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Work and performance history must reflect the ability to work on multiple tasks and set priorities within the assigned area of responsibility.

    Desired Qualifications:
    Associates degree in an analytical, information management, or business discipline. 3-5 years of experience working in a DoD classified environment and in the management of information designated as National Security Information through the application of NISPOM requirements to proper marking, storage, distribution, and disposition of sensitive and classified information. Experience with APL software applications, particularly ECMS and SharePoint. Familiarity with US/UK Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines and Strategic Weapons Systems.

    Special Working Conditions:
    Work will take place in a Closed Area environment.

    Applicants selected will be subject to a
    Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements
    for access to classified information up to the Secret level. Eligibility
    requirements include US citizenship.
